This is because platelets need to flood to the wound in order for it to be able to clot. The next step of indirect pressure points has also been removed, and it is now direct pressure only.

Because of this SEEP has now become SEP:

• S - Sit or lay: Sit or lay the patient down.
• E - Examine: Examine wound for any foreign objects.
• E - Elevate: Elevate the wound if possible above the level of the heart.
• P - Pressure: Apply direct or indirect pressure.
