Recent changes to Forestry Commission policy recommend those who work in the Forestry industry attend training which includes additional topics relevant to the risks and nature or their work.
We offer two courses to meet your requirements: Emergency First Aid at Work plus Forestry (EFAW+F) and First Aid at Work plus Forestry (FAW+F).
This course is designed for Forestry Workers and Arborists who need enhanced First Aid skills.
The course content is the same as our First Aid at Work and Emergency First Aid at Work, plus the following topics:
The Forestry Commission recommend other topics to be included are:
- Severe bleeding (i.e. chainsaw injury)
- Crush injury
- Hypothermia
- Lyme Disease
The Health & Safety Executive prescribe that Emergency First Aid at Work courses should be delivered over 6 hours, not including breaks. The First Aid at Work courses should be delivered over 18 hours, not including breaks.
As the above information is guidance rather than legislation, we are happy to work with customers to provide bespoke training which meets their needs but it should be noted that the above topics would realistically require at least an additional hour of contact time.
If your First Aid Needs Analysis suggests more training beyond EFAW+F due to the remote nature of your work, we would recommend the 2 Day Remote First Aid course; a practical, basic course designed specifically for those who work in remote or higher hazard environments.
EFAW+F: Continuous assessment throughout the course
FAW+F: Delegates attending this competency-based training course are assessed through continuous observation by the trainer, self-assessment, role play and informal an assessment at the end.
On successful completion of the course candidates will receive certification valid for 3 years.
This course is only available to group bookings subject to a minimum of 6 candidates. Please fill out and return our enquiry form or call 01483 238268.
