Now that business have made the decision to offer more flexible working, staff are sharing their time between their home office and the workplace. To ensure the safety of these staff at home employers have a duty to undertake basic tasks and risk assessments for that staff member.
Once risk assessed some basic questions should be considered.
This includes:
- Stress and poor mental health
- The working space they are in
- Display Screen Equipment
- Calling help and what to do in an emergency
All of the above should be set our in a working from home policy and employees should be encouraged to take ownership of their own safety when working from home and communicate with empoyers to find a solution for any problem which may occur when working at home alone.
