FIRST AID FOR MENTAL HEALTH

Surrey First Aid Training Ltd - Specialists in First Aid Courses since 2000

There have recently been studies showing that every year employees are losing time at work due to mental health issues. However, with mental health policies and training in place, employees would feel more able to be open and therefore more productive members of the workforce.

Five Steps to Improve Organisational Mental Health

  1. Be Proactive: Give employees/members access to a mental health fitness program that raises awareness so they can better understand and manage their mental health.
  2. Offer Mental Health Benefits: Provide confidential screening and counselling services with emotional support and treatment options.
  3. Promote Good Mental Health: Encourage employees to take advantage of available mental health benefits by reducing the stigma of mental illness through education and information.
  4. Recognise Warning Signs: Train managers to recognise the signs of mental health conditions and to support struggling employees.
  5. Create A Mental Health Policy: Establish an organisational policy that recognises the importance of the mental well-being of its workforce and solidifies investment in mental health resources.

In the workplace by law you will currently have a trained First Aider for anyone who has a physical health issue, a trained Health & Safety Officer along with a written policy, so why not appoint and train a first contact mental health first aider.

Surrey First Aid Training is delighted to deliver Mental Health First Aider and Awareness Training which meets the guidelines of the HSE.  This course runs in conjunction with Mind Woking, the Mental Health Charity and covers all aspects of mental health conditions, recognition, first aid, and where and how to get support. This course can be delivered by our Mental Health First Aid England (MHFA England) registered trainer and training programme, or we also offer a Surrey First Aid Training option which reduces the cost of delivering the training
