Bonfire Night Safety

Surrey First Aid Training Ltd - Specialists in First Aid Courses since 2000

Tonight, is bonfire night, a great night for all the family to eat food and watch fireworks together. However, with Fireworks, sparklers and bonfires there is always going to be risks and hazards that you need to watch out for. No one wants to spend their night in A&E!

Every year there are around 990 injuries caused by fireworks in October and November.

494 were children who were injured when using sparklers or fireworks

479 were people of all ages, who required hospital treatment after injuries caused by fireworks:

121 of those injuries happened during a public display

475 occurred at family displays or private parties

Out of the injuries, a total of 285 were eye injuries.

Whilst there can be lots of things to think about, we want to help families have a safe and enjoyable bonfire night, so we have written a list of do’s and don’ts so that you can relax and have a good night.
