The course covers the content recommended by OFSTED:
- Coping with an emergency in the childcare environment
- OFSTED and EYFS requirements (including first aid boxes and reporting)
- The priorities of treatment
- Resuscitation: Adult, child and baby
- Unconsciousness: Adult, child and baby
- Control of bleeding and shock
- Burns and electrical shock
- Treatment of minor injuries with the emphasis on children and babies
- Drowning and poisoning
- Choking: Adult, child and baby
- Common Paediatric medical conditions: asthma, anaphylaxis, diabetes, epilepsy, febrile convulsions, meningitis etc.
- Head injuries, spinal management and injuries to the eyes.
Our Paediatric courses include FREE Paediatric First Aid learner resources, Anaphylaxis awareness and FREE venue parking.
This course is a Blended Learning Course, it consists of 2 parts:
Part 1 – You attend one day at the venue for the first 6 hours of practical learning with the trainer.
Part 2 – You can complete the remaining 6 hours of the theoretical study via flexible independent self study, at a time to suit you. You will receive learning resources and an assessment questionnaire, which you will have up to two weeks to complete.
On completion of the course you will receive a 12 hour certificate, which is valid for 3 years and accepted by OFSTED.
Our 12 hour Paediatric Blended Learning public course is held at our new venue in Epsom on Saturdays, and the course runs from 9.15am to 4.15pm.
