The Health and Safety Regulations (1974) require nursing and care homes to provide adequate first aid equipment and have sufficient numbers of trained personnel to administer first aid and health & safety.

This course may be run either at one of our Surrey venues or in-house at your premises on days and at times which suit you. On successful completion delegates will be awarded a HSE First Aid at Work certificate

If your staff currently hold a valid First Aid at Work certificate, it is possible to renew it for a further 3 years if they undertake a First Aid at Work Refresher course before their certificate expires. This course takes two days and will update the delegates with recent changes to CPR protocols.

Automated External Defibrillator Training

If your staff currently hold a valid First Aid at Work certificate we can offer an specialist subject to their skills.

This four hour course follows the Resuscitation Council (UK) guidelines and prepares First Aiders to be able to administer a controlled electric shock via an automated external defibrillator in order to restore cardiac rhythm in cases of cardiac arrest.

Ventricular fibrillation is the cause of most sudden cardiac related deaths. It is a condition in which the heart quivers rather than beats properly. Once it has developed it is crucial that it is treated immediately if there is to be a chance of successful resuscitation.

This course will examine and demonstrate how the benefits, how to use and practice the use of the AED machine.  This certificate is valid for one year and training can be delivered for a minimum of 6 delegates.

Emergency First Aid At Work For The Appointed Person: (1 day course)

A practical course covering First Aid techniques designed to meet the minimum standards as required by the current Health and Safety legislation and TOPSS requirements. This course is predominantly practical based.

This course can be held over a day, or two afternoons at your workplace. Courses are held at our training venue in Surrey once a month.

Certificates are valid for 3 years.

 

Manual Handling of Clients: (1 day)

The moving and Transferring of Clients course is designed to give employees of any level in the care industry an appreciation of the fundamentals of good moving and handling techniques. With increasing legislation, employers have a statutory requirement to provide adequate training for their employees under the Manual Handling Regulation 1992.

The course  duration is 4 hours and at the end the delegates will be awarded a Manual Handling of Clients certificate valid for 3 years.

 

CIEH Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering:

The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) designed a foundation course to give employers and employees who directly and indirectly work with food and beverages, an insight into the importance of good food hygiene practices.

The Department of Health TOPSS and the Commission of Social Care Inspections recognise the CIEH foundation level certificate.

 

Fire Awareness Training: 3 hour

The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 or the Fire Safety Order came into force on 1 October 2006. The Order affects all non-domestic premises and even applies to certain activities taking place outdoors.

Surrey First Aid Training offers the 3 hour Fire Awareness training aimed for all staff to help identify risk and how to reduce them in the workplace.

This course is highly practical and allows delegates to discuss their own experience and questions in an open and relaxed workshop. Delegates will have plenty of practice of how to assess and make safe areas of fire risk.

Certificates are valid for a three year upon successful completion of the course.
