Food Hygiene in the Workplace

 

The Food Hygiene course is designed to equip those attending with the skills and knowledge to prepare and handle food hygienically.

Surrey First Aid It is approved by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health to deliver level 2 Food Safety and meets the requirements of the Food Safety Act 1990 and the Food Safety Regulations 1995.

Anyone who works with food has a special responsibility for safe-guarding the health of those that consume it. This courses enable staff to understand the importance of good hygiene practice when preparing food and serving food.

Objectives of the course:

  • Understand the basic requirements of the Food Safety Act 1990 and regulations 1990.
  • Understand the characteristics of food safety hazards and their potential risks.
  • Understand the methods of preventing food poisoning including maintaining, cooking, reheating, safe food handling and storage.
  • Understand the need for high standards or personal hygiene.
  • Recognise the need for high standards of cleanliness in a food preparation environment.

The Level 2 course is completed with a 30 multiple choice question examination. Successful completion of this will lead to the CIEH Level 2 award in Food Safety.
