First Aid Needs Assessment
It is a legal requirement for employers to undertake a first aid needs assessment (See HSE.gov.uk).

Completing this assessment does not need to be a complication process and if you are not sure we will happily come into your workplace and help you complete the assessment free of charge.

First Aid at Work Changes:

There are now 2 types Health and Safety Executive approved first aid courses:

1 - The one day Emergency First Aid at Work course which covers:

• Acting safely and promptly in an emergency
• Basic life support
• Recovery position & CPR, treating an unconscious casualty (including seizures)
• Control of severe bleeding and wounds
• Minor injuries
• Common medical emergencies
• First aid kits & accident reporting
• Preventing cross infection
• The treatment of shock

2 - The second type of first aid training is the First Aid at Work Course. This course is more comprehensive course in its content.

It is now up to the employer to make a decision about how frequent the number and the level of first aid needed in their workplace.

To decide which level of first aid you require you will need to discuss the types of risks that create injuries in your workplace and look at previous accident forms.
